Tips On Pumping Gas

Only buy or fill up your New York automobile or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role.

Use your smart phone app stores are full of free and paid tools for finding the cheapest gas, usually using the GPS in your phone to locate the nearest pumps.

Long Island Gas Prices Among Highest in Nation

Just in time for the holidays, the average gasoline price jumped another 7.7 cents in the past week on Long Island - to the highest average price since October 2008 and one of the highest nationally.
